For all the “Global Warming” talk that is going around, there seems to be an equal amount of people saying “Global Cooling”. Here are some links I found about the Global Cooling said to be already underway.
Evidence of Global Cooling [FoxNews.com]
Global Temperature Trends Graph [thepeoplesvoice.org]
Study Says More Global Cooling Ahead [National Center for Policy Analysis]
Humans are not causing any sort of global warming crisis [Environment & Climate News]
All of the links say that the trends seem to indicate Global Cooling will happen (or is already happening) due to natural global climate cycles. The graph certainly shows how the earth goes through a lot of climate changes over time. I am very interested to hear what all of you think.

If you haven’t heard yet, I am engaged to a wonderful young woman. We are both very excited. I don’t know what else to say. I can post links to our engagement story if anybody is interested.
On top of that, we just purchased our first home together. The paperwork is being processed and we hope to get the keys by the end of next week. I will post some pictures of our home when I get around to taking some.
That’s all for now.

I’ve been debating whether or not I should even write this post for months now. Is it too personal? Will my readers be interested in the topic? I’m still not sure, but it feels like the time is right.
My father passed away on Wednesday August 22, 2007 from cancer.
When he was diagnosed three years ago, the doctors gave him a 7% chance of surviving. Over the last few years he fought like hell. For a while the cancer even went into remission. It was a very tough time for our family.
I may never know why God let him go, but I have faith that God has a plan. (Reference: Jeremiah 29:11) I look forward to seeing my father again in heaven.

Well, you probably noticed my blog was not available for over a month. I apologize for this, even though it was not my fault. As it turns out Qwest has issues.
It all started when my house mate and I opted to go with Qwest DSL for our internet (we did have good reasons). Qwest said they would turn our internet on on February 1st. That seemed reasonable. I would have had to live without internet for a little over a week.
Before February 1st they sent us the modem in the mail. But to my surprise, I could not connect to the internet when I tried on the first of the month. Over the next two weeks Qwest sent three technicians over to my place to fix the connection. None of them could get it going, until the last technician called me at work one day. Basically, he told me that because of the location of the house we can’t get a good connection.
When I figured out that they were going to give us an internet connection speed that was slightly higher than dial-up for over $30 a month, I canceled immediately. Qwest said they would not make us pay for the service that lasted less than one day total.
To this date: we have received three bills in the mail for over $90 from Qwest and we have canceled our service four times. They better not send us another bill….

Moving is often an overwhelming task for many people. During my most recent move, I came to realize that I had twice as much stuff as I had previously thought. The amount of stuff that I actually had hit me only after I got everything out of the attic, crawl space, garage, bathroom, bedroom, and other rooms around the house. Why do I need so much stuff, I wondered?
When I began throwing out my old things (read: giving to friends and donating to charity), people started saying things like “keep that for the memories” and “you might want that someday”. This is a tempting argument and a HUGE TRAP. Nobody wants to look like a fool and have to buy a new item because they carelessly discarded it months or years prior. Also, no one wants to lose their fond memories of childhood.
That’s why people keep more things they need. But the old stuff doesn’t actually contain the memories. Your brain holds the memories. You don’t need all the stuff to remember your past. I’m not suggesting that everyone get rid of all their keepsakes. The point is to not let the amount of old stuff take over.
During this time I found a good blog post. Unfortunately, I can’t find it for a reference now, but it gave three things to consider when determining what to keep.
- What do you want your life to look like?
- Is keeping that item helping you live your life the way you want to?
- Is keeping that item stopping you from living your life the way you want to?
I luckily HAD to get rid of a good amount of my stuff because my new place is smaller. It was a good exercise to realize that old stuff is really not equivalent to memories. Truth be told I did keep some things just for the sake of nostalgia, but now I know that I can live without the material things that I used to hold so dear to me. Stuff is just stuff.
